The benefits of ICE and the body

Ice can be therapeutic in so many ways and levels.  It works not only on the outer-most superficial layers of your skin, but it also works on a molecular level inside your body as well.  This literally means that it works everything from your cells to your DNA!!  Total cold body therapy is not a new treatment.  It is proven that a Dr. used this alternative therapy in the 1800's!  Yet, it is not often used because it is not "relaxing".  When you think of relaxation, you want a heated down comforter bed, with red light heat therapy and warm steam.  You do not think about a cold dismal room, and ice chamber, or ice being placed on your skin after a facial...  But hopefully, after a few more of these benefits I share with you, you might change your mind!  Ice therapy can help with weight loss, inflammation, joint pain, arthritis, ease chronic pain, rheumatism, multiple sclerosis, fatigue, depression, heal nerve damage, cell turnover, and collagen re-production, just to name a few.. haha!  I know it seems extreme, but try and picture the benefits and commit to an ice therapy treatment today!!  I promise you will feel the best you have ever felt!

ROSES

The rose is an almighty flower.  It is so detoxifying and hydrating.  Rose oi has so many healing factors to it as well.  I use rose oil when I get out of the bath while my skin is still wet and then pat the excess off with a towel.  There is also a wonderful line I use called Duchess Marden, and they use rose in all their products.  I could also go in to all the medical benefits of rose as well but I will spare you the reading.  The key benefits to remember in regards to your skin is that it acts as an anti-inflammatory, it tightens and naturally tones and disinfects preparing the skin for hydration.  It is perfect to use a rose water spray before you apply your moisturizer.  You can find rose oil at Whole Foods or your local health supply store and you can find Duchess Marden at: http://www.duchessmarden.com/index.html.  Jurlique also has a wonderful rose mist and you can find that at: http://www.jurlique.com/products/rbm/rosewater-balancing-mist.

Dreadful Bumps

If you are like me and have those dreadful litle bumps on the back of your arms you are going to love this post!  The medical term for these suckers is Keratosis Pilaris.  We will call it KP.  KP is the result of clogged pores where skin cells have hardened inside and then inflammation occurs.  It affects affects 50-80% of adolescents and roughly 40% of adults though no one knows exactly why.  What I know is that it is more common in children or a person with dry sensitive skin.
Treatment:
Advice for treatment of these little buggers is exfoliation.  All though it’s better to use a chemical exfoliant than a physical one, physical ones are better than nothing.  The goal is to unclogged the follicle and then hydrate the area.  Chemical exfoliants or washes to look out for are ones rich with alpha hydroxy acids.  Then use a hydrocortisone cream to reduce the redness.  The KP should clear up in three weeks if you fallow these steps.  For a less expensive solution try and homemade scrub and then olive oil after!
